This adventure will not only test your endurance but also immerse you in the raw beauty and spiritual essence of the Himalayas.
The group assembles at 6:30 AM at the designated pickup point in Dehradun. We embark on a scenic drive towards Sankri, a small village in Uttarkashi which serves as the base camp for the Bali Pass trek. The journey offers stunning views of pine forests, majestic mountains and the hill stations of Mussoorie. Upon arrival at Sankri we check into the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Pickup point is Dehradun Railway Station.
After a hearty breakfast we drive to Taluka where the trek officially begins. The drive is surrounded by lush forests and the magnificent Himalayan backdrop. Upon reaching Taluka we start trekking towards Seema our campsite. The trail takes us through dense forests of Deodar Walnut and Chestnut trees. We cross the Supin River and reach Gangabad village before finally arriving at Seema. Here we set up camp for the night with a warm dinner.
After breakfast we begin our trek towards Devsu Bugyal a beautiful meadow nestled at an altitude of 3000 meters amidst the Ruinsara forest. The path runs along the Supin River and as we approach Devsu Bugyal the trail becomes steeper and rocky. Reaching the meadow we’re greeted with two kilometers of pure natural beauty adorned with Himalayan wildflowers. The day is spent leisurely followed by a warm dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
On the fourth day after a nutritious breakfast we set out on a trek to Ruinsara Tal a pristine glacial lake situated at 3200 meters. The trail passes through lush meadows and rhododendron blooms with the towering Himalayas in the distance. Upon reaching the serene campsite at Ruinsara Tal we relax for the rest of the day soaking in the peaceful surroundings. The evening is spent with dinner and a restful overnight stay.
The trek continues with a short yet scenic journey from Ruinsara Tal to Odari which holds mythological significance as the place where Bali the King of Kishkindha from the Ramayana is said to have stayed in the cave. The trail is filled with descents and we cross the Supin River along the way. Once at the Odari campsite we are treated to breathtaking views of the Swaroghini peaks and the Bali Pass in the backdrop. After settling in we enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.
On Day 6 we trek to Bali Col Camp located at an altitude of 15000 feet. This section of the trek is challenging as it involves navigating a ridge and steep inclines. The higher altitude requires us to stay hydrated and take regular breaks. Upon reaching the campsite we take the time to acclimatize stay warm and rest. Dinner is served and we spend the night in the camp to prepare for the next day’s adventure.
The highlight of the trek arrives on Day 7 as we set out to summit the Bali Pass at 16200 feet. This challenging segment requires careful navigation as the snow-covered trail is narrow and difficult to cross. Upon reaching the summit we are rewarded with a 360º panoramic view of the Himalayas including peaks like Bandarpoonch Swargrohini and the entire Yamunotri Valley. After spending some time absorbing the views we begin the steep descent to Lower Dhamni where we set up camp for the night after a long and strenuous day.
On the final day after breakfast we begin the descent towards Jaanki Chatti. The trail is easier consisting mostly of paved paths though there is a steep ascent to Yamnotri where we visit the Yamunotri Temple. After covering a 5 km stretch we reach the drop-off point where the group disbands. The journey ends with a drive back to Dehradun concluding the Bali Pass trek.
