The adventure begins from Dehradun, winding through the scenic town of Uttarkashi and into the quaint hamlet of Kuflon. From here, the trail ascends through charming villages like Shiladuni and Chaithathar, offering rich biodiversity, verdant meadows, and encounters with local Himalayan culture. At the heart of the trek lies Mukta Tal, a secluded high-altitude lake nestled amidst rolling grasslands and towering ridges. The ascent to Mukta Top rewards trekkers with sweeping views of iconic peaks such as Bandarpunch, Swargarohini, and Kala Nag. The descent passes through Kuari, before returning to Kuflon, bringing the journey full circle.  

  • Itinerary

    Day 1: Dehradun to Uttarkashi 150 km 6-7 hours 4550 feet

    Begin the journey early from Dehradun heading towards Uttarkashi located 150 km away. The scenic drive along the banks of the Ganga River and through lush forests makes for a delightful start to the trek. Reach your base camp nestled by the Asi Ganga River in the evening.

    Day 2: Uttarkashi to Kuflon 7 km 20 minutes Kuflon to Shiladuni 4 km 4 hours

    Travel by taxi to Kuflon a short 20-minute ride. From here begin the trek initially passing through a local market before ascending through a pine forest. As you continue the forest thickens with Oaks Maples and Rhododendrons. After crossing a stream the trail leads you to Shiladuni a peaceful forest clearing with stunning views of snow-covered mountains. Enjoy a restful evening with food and camping by nearby streams.

    Day 3: Shiladuni to Chaithathar 5 km 5-6 hours 9600 feet

    The day’s trek to Chaithathar begins with a steep ascent through oak and maple forests. After crossing a stream continue uphill passing through a rocky path. Midway enjoy views of the valley and your previous campsites. The final stretch takes you through bamboo forests to Chaithathar a beautiful clearing with a flowing stream and a shepherd’s hut perfect for bird watching and relaxation.

    Day 4: Chaithathar to Mukta Tal 4 km 4 hours 10800 feet

    The trail to Mukta Tal offers a gradual ascent through forests with a small clearing that’s covered in snow during winter. As you continue enjoy incredible views of the Bandarpoonch Nag Tibba and Kala Nag peaks. The last stretch takes you through meadows reaching Mukta Tal a serene pond offering an unparalleled view of the surrounding mountains.

    Day 5: Mukta Tal to Mukta Top then Kuari 9 km 6-7 hours

    Climb to Mukta Top where the panoramic views of the Gangotri group of peaks Nag Tibba Kala Nag Bandarpoonch and Jaonli are absolutely breathtaking. Spend time at the summit before descending back to Kuari your midpoint for the trek.

    Day 6: Kuari to Kuflon 6 km 4 hours 4600 feet Drive back to Dehradun 155 km 6-7 hours

    The final day involves a descent back to Kuflon through forest trails where you might spot Himalayan birds and wildlife perfect for photography. On the way enjoy views of the Asi Ganga River powerhouse. After reaching Kuflon drive back to Dehradun concluding the trek around 6:00 to 6:30 pm.

    4. For those booking only the cab service, please book or look for hotels within a 9 to 10 km radius of the main city to avoid extra travel charges. Cab operator service hours for local sightseeing are from 09:00 AM to 07:00 PM. For safety reasons, please avoid late-night walks. If the vehicle is used late at night, additional compensation for the driver will be required. Please consider all sightseeing activities as per the time and travel schedule. There are no timing restrictions on arrival and departure days.
    5. Please respond by return mail so we can proceed with the advance booking formalities. Upon reflecting the amount in our account, we will send you a reservation voucher.
    6. Help us keep our surroundings clean by avoiding littering, spitting, drinking, and smoking in public places and in all aspects (advisory only).
    7. AC is complimentary in flat areas, but in hill stations, AC will not be used (mostly for North India and North East regions). All vehicles hired are on a point-to-point basis and not on disposal. If AC services are required in hill areas, it will be on a direct payment basis.
    8. Sightseeing days may need to be rescheduled due to the closing of any monument on a particular day to ensure the smooth execution of tours.
    9. Check-in and check-out times are as per hotel policies.
    10. Meal timings must be followed as instructed by the hotels. We shall not be responsible for any un-availed meals.
    11. In case of non-payment, either advance or remaining, the company has the right to stop services.

    13. In Himachal, Leh Ladakh, Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and North East, the facilities of hotels, services, aids, etc., cannot be matched to developed destinations. Hotels in these regions are categorized based on location, services, and cost, and not as per star categorization (1*, 2*, 3*, 4*, 5*, etc.).

By Air:

By Train:

  1. Dehradun has a well-connected railway station, Dehradun Railway Station (DDN), which is easily accessible from cities like Delhi, Haridwar, and Rishikesh.
  2. You can take a train from Delhi (around 6-7 hours) or from other major cities to reach Dehradun.
  3. Once you arrive at the railway station, you can take a taxi or auto-rickshaw to reach your accommodation or the base camp.

By Road:

  1. Dehradun is well-connected by road and can be accessed via National Highway 7.
  2. If you're traveling from Delhi, it’s around a 6-7 hour drive (around 270 km). You can hire a taxi, take a private vehicle, or use buses operated by Uttarakhand Roadways or private services.
  3. Dehradun is also well connected to nearby cities like Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Mussoorie.
