Overview

The Parashar Lake Trek, organized by Mountains Chain Travel Pvt. Ltd., is a short yet stunning Himalayan escape ideal for weekend adventurers and first-time trekkers. Starting from Baggi Village, the trail meanders through enchanting forests of pine and oak, across rocky stretches and bubbling streams, leading to panoramic open meadows. After about 4–5 hours of trekking, you'll reach the mesmerizing Parashar Lake, nestled at an altitude of 2,730 meters. The lake is famous for its pristine waters, a mysterious floating island, and the centuries-old pagoda-style Parashar Rishi Temple. Evening camping by the lake with a bonfire and stargazing adds a magical touch to this experience.  

  • Itinerary

    Day 1: Delhi - Mandi-Overnight Journey

    The overnight journey from Delhi to Mandi offers a convenient and comfortable way to reach the scenic town nestled in Himachal Pradesh. Departing from Delhi in the evening, travelers can board a Volvo bus or a private taxi, allowing them to relax and rest through the night. The approximately 10 to 12-hour journey takes you through the beautiful landscapes of northern India, with occasional stops for refreshments. Arriving early in the morning,

    Day 2: Mandi to Baggi Village and Trek to Parashar Lake

    The journey begins as you reach Mandi by 6:00 AM, where a vehicle arranged by Mountains Chain Travel Pvt. Ltd. will pick you up from the bus stand. After a short drive of around 2 hours, you'll arrive at Baggi Village, the base point of the trek. Take a brief rest before starting the 8 km uphill trek to Parashar Lake. The trail starts with rocky paths and water streams — be cautious as the stones can be slippery. After about half a kilometer, the trail enters a dense forest, where the real adventure begins. This section is a steep and continuous climb of around 5 km through thick pine and oak woods. Eventually, you’ll emerge into a scenic meadow offering the first views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks, a perfect spot to pause and soak in the surroundings. From here, the trek eases slightly and continues through open terrain until you reach the stunning Parashar Lake in approximately 4 to 5 hours. Surrounded by green pastures and crowned by the ancient pagoda-style Parashar Rishi Temple, the lake is a peaceful and mystical sight.     Day 3: Parashar Lake to Baggi Village and Return to Mandi

    Wake up early to enjoy the serene sunrise over the Himalayan horizon. After a warm breakfast, begin your descent back to Baggi Village, retracing the forest trail. The downhill trek takes around 3 hours and offers a different perspective of the natural beauty you passed through on the way up. Once you reach Baggi, our vehicle will be ready to transfer you back to Mandi Bus Stand, marking the end of your short yet memorable Himalayan adventure.

    2. The company reserves the right to reschedule sightseeing days to ensure the smooth execution of tours. All guests must carry a valid Indian government-issued photo address proof, including for children.
    3. Please provide your pick-up and drop-off times.
    4. For those booking only the cab service, please book or look for hotels within a 9 to 10 km radius of the main city to avoid extra travel charges. Cab operator service hours for local sightseeing are from 09:00 AM to 07:00 PM. For safety reasons, please avoid late-night walks. If the vehicle is used late at night, additional compensation for the driver will be required. Please consider all sightseeing activities as per the time and travel schedule. There are no timing restrictions on arrival and departure days.
    5. Please respond by return mail so we can proceed with the advance booking formalities. Upon reflecting the amount in our account, we will send you a reservation voucher.
    6. Help us keep our surroundings clean by avoiding littering, spitting, drinking, and smoking in public places and in all aspects (advisory only).
    7. AC is complimentary in flat areas, but in hill stations, AC will not be used (mostly for North India and North East regions). All vehicles hired are on a point-to-point basis and not on disposal. If AC services are required in hill areas, it will be on a direct payment basis.
    8. Sightseeing days may need to be rescheduled due to the closing of any monument on a particular day to ensure the smooth execution of tours.
    9. Check-in and check-out times are as per hotel policies.
    10. Meal timings must be followed as instructed by the hotels. We shall not be responsible for any un-availed meals.
    11. In case of non-payment, either advance or remaining, the company has the right to stop services.
    12. We shall not be responsible for any cancellation of cabs or buses due to bad weather and are not liable for it.
    13. In regions like Himachal, Leh Ladakh, Kashmir, Uttarakhand, North East, Andaman & Nicobar, Kerala, Goa, and Rajasthan, hotels are typically categorized based on location, services, and the type of experience they offer, rather than traditional star ratings. These areas often have unique accommodations, ranging from basic guesthouses to luxury resorts, shaped by their geographical and cultural characteristics. In places like Andaman & Nicobar, Rajasthan, and Kerala, the focus is on proximity to natural attractions, heritage experiences, and local amenities, with star classification being less common in remote or heritage properties.

    6. To secure your package booking, an initial payment of 50% is required at the time of reservation.
    7. The remaining 50% of the package cost will be collected either upon arrival on the first day of the tour or 1-7 days prior to the trip.

    2. -If cancelled 30 days or more prior to departure: 20% of the total tour cost will be deducted.
    3. -If cancelled between 15-29 days prior to departure: 50% of the total tour cost will be deducted.

How To Reach

By Bus (Recommended Option)

  1. From Delhi/Chandigarh:
  2. Take an overnight Volvo or Himachal Roadways (HRTC) bus to Mandi.
  3. From Delhi ISBT Kashmere Gate, buses to Mandi run regularly (10–12 hours).
  4. From Chandigarh, it takes around 6–7 hours.

Tip: Reach Mandi by 6:00 AM as the pickup by our team will be from the Mandi Bus Stand.

By Train
