  • Itinerary

Your journey begins on the scenic Manali to Leh highway heading toward Keylong. En route you will pass through the iconic Atal Tunnel which is the world’s highest highway tunnel at over 10,000 feet. This passage transforms the landscape dramatically from dense pine forests to stark rocky terrain. We will take a break at the charming village of Sissu for a short exploration before continuing to Keylong by afternoon. It is a day to ease into higher altitudes so we take it slow to allow for proper acclimatisation. Overnight stay at a hotel in Keylong.

    • Dinner

We begin early and drive through Lahaul Valley on the Manali to Leh highway. After Darcha we take the road toward Zanskar. Our route crosses the high altitude Shinku La Pass situated over 5,000 meters offering surreal views of snowclad peaks and alpine landscapes. Descending into Zanskar Valley we pass through untouched terrain en route to Padum which is the administrative capital of Zanskar. Overnight stay at a hotel in Padum.

    • Breakfast & Dinner

Today is for exploring the cultural and natural beauty of Zanskar. We begin with a visit to Shila Waterfall which is a rare sight in this arid landscape. Later we explore Karsha Gompa which is the largest monastery in Zanskar and home to a well preserved mummy and stunning mountain views. We continue to Stongde Monastery perched on a hilltop where a beautiful sunset view over the Zanskar River and surrounding peaks awaits. In the evening enjoy a stroll through Padum Market, sample local delicacies or shop for souvenirs. Overnight stay at a hotel in Padum.

    • Breakfast & Dinner

We drive along the Padum to Kargil road starting with a visit to the sacred Sani Lake which features a statue of Guru Padmasambhava. Next we head to the magnificent Drang Drung Glacier which is one of Ladakh’s largest. Just ahead lies Pensi La Pass flanked by the twin lakes Lang Tso and Stat Tso. We then visit the historic Rangdum Monastery surrounded by dramatic terrain before returning to Padum. Overnight stay at a hotel in Padum.

    • Breakfast & Dinner

Today we drive toward Purne through rugged mountain terrain. Along the way we stop at Bardan Monastery perched on a cliff and continue to Raru village. A short hike takes us to the peaceful Raru Lake surrounded by snowcapped peaks. We also stop at Ichar village to see the tall Maitreya Buddha statue before reaching Purne. Overnight stay at cottages in Purne.

    • Breakfast & Dinner

We begin early with a one and a half hour trek to the remote Phugtal Monastery which is built into a massive natural cave on a cliffside. The trail winds alongside the river offering views of turquoise waters and untouched landscapes. After hiking back to Purne by noon we drive to Gonbo Rangjon. Upon reaching Kurgiakh we get our first views of the sacred Gonbo Rangjon peak. Overnight stay at camps at the base of Gonbo Rangjon ideal for stargazing on a clear night.

    • Breakfast & Dinner

We retrace our route to Manali passing through Shinku La Pass, Darcha and Jispa. The journey offers a final chance to enjoy the incredible views of the Himalayas. We expect to reach Manali by late afternoon. If you are planning onward travel please book transport for after 8 PM.
