Overview

Embark on a spiritually uplifting and adventure-filled journey with Mountains Chain Travel Pvt. Ltd. through the serene landscapes of Himachal Pradesh on the Churdhar Peak Trek. Standing tall at 3,647 meters, Churdhar is the highest peak in the outer Himalayas and is revered as the sacred abode of Shirgul Maharaj (Chureshwar Mahadev). This 3-day trek offers a perfect blend of nature, spirituality, and adventure, taking you through lush forests, alpine meadows, and scenic mountain trails. The trail begins from the quaint village of Sarain, located in the Shimla district, and leads to Churdhar Summit, where trekkers are rewarded with panoramic views of the Himalayas, including peaks in Kinnaur, Shimla, and even distant peaks of Uttarakhand. The journey is carefully planned by Mountains Chain Travel Pvt. Ltd., ensuring well-organized transportation, quality camping equipment, knowledgeable trek leaders, and a comfortable, safe trekking experience. Whether you're a first-time trekker or a nature enthusiast seeking peace and panoramic beauty, this trek is a memorable escape into the heart of Himachal.

  • Itinerary

Your journey begins with a scenic early morning pickup from Chandigarh, driving through the picturesque Shivalik ranges. As you move uphill via Solan, Rajgarh, and Nohradhar, the air gets crisper, and the pine forests grow denser. After approximately 8–9 hours of drive (around 260 km), you’ll arrive at the serene Sarain Village, the base of the Churdhar trek. This quiet Himalayan hamlet is nestled amid lush green surroundings and offers a peaceful atmosphere for acclimatization. Upon arrival, check into your guest house or campsite, where you’ll be greeted with hot tea and snacks. Spend the evening exploring the nearby trails or simply relaxing by the valley side. The trek leader will conduct a brief orientation session, explaining the route, safety tips, and do’s & don’ts of the trek. Enjoy a wholesome dinner and rest well to prepare for the trek ahead.

    • Dinner

After a hearty breakfast, begin your 7 km trek towards Kalaban, the base camp of Churdhar Peak. The trail passes through dense deodar, pine, and oak forests, alive with birdsong and rich biodiversity. With every step, you’ll gain altitude and witness breathtaking Himalayan views. The path is a mix of gradual ascents and open clearings, offering rest spots to soak in the mountain serenity. After 4–6 hours of trekking, arrive at Kalaban or Shirgul Camps, a beautiful alpine meadow surrounded by forest ridges. Enjoy a late lunch and unwind at the camp, which offers stunning sunset views and cool mountain breeze. In the evening, relax around a campfire (weather permitting), exchange stories with fellow trekkers, and relish a warm dinner under the stars.

    • Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner

Wake up early to begin the final push to Churdhar Peak (3,647 meters), the highest point in the outer Himalayas. Trek through rocky terrains and alpine slopes to reach the ancient shrine of Chureshwar Mahadev, dedicated to Lord Shiva. On a clear day, the summit offers 360° views of snow-clad peaks including Kinnaur, Shimla hills, and Kedarnath. After spending time at the peak and soaking in the divine energy, descend back to the base camp for breakfast. From there, continue the descent to Sarain village, halting en route to visit the sacred and lesser-known Bijat Mahadev Temple, perched beautifully in the forest. After reaching Sarain by late afternoon, start your drive back to Chandigarh, carrying unforgettable memories and a deep sense of peace from this spiritually rich Himalayan trek. You’ll reach Chandigarh by late night.
