This 7-day / 6-night Ladakh Monasteries Tour offers an immersive journey through the region’s most iconic attractions and cultural treasures — all within a week, carefully curated by Mountains Chain Travel Pvt. Ltd. Your adventure begins with an enriching exploration of Leh and the Sham region of the Indus valley. You’ll visit ancient monasteries and picturesque villages including Phyang, Basgo, Alchi, Likir, Lamayuru, Rizong, and Spituk. Along the route, experience must-see landmarks like the enigmatic Magnetic Hill, the breathtaking Sangam (confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers), and the sacred Gurdwara Pathar Sahib. The journey continues northward as you cross the renowned Khardung La pass, the world’s highest motorable road, into the serene Nubra valley. Explore the historic Diskit monastery and enjoy a memorable camel safari on the dramatic Hunder sand dunes. From Nubra, a scenic drive via Shayok brings you to the crystal-clear Pangong Lake, famous for its turquoise waters and cinematic beauty from the Bollywood movie 3 Idiots. Returning to Leh via the stunning Chang La pass, you’ll visit some of Ladakh’s finest monasteries and palaces along the way — including Chemrey, Hemis, Thiksey, and Shey Palace — before concluding your unforgettable Ladakh experience.  

  • Itinerary

    Day 1: Arrival in Leh (Leh Airport – Leh Town)

    Night in Leh Fly from Delhi to Leh, the capital of Ladakh, enjoying stunning aerial views of the Himalayas. After airport pickup and hotel check-in (3,500 m altitude), take time to acclimatize. In the afternoon, explore Leh’s charming old town, visit Leh Palace and Namgyal Tsemo Gompa for city views, and end the day at Shanti Stupa. Stroll through Main Bazar and sample local cuisine or Ladakhi butter tea.

    Day 2: Leh – Phyang – Magnetic Hill – Sangam – Basgo – Alchi – Lamayuru

    Night in Lamayuru Drive through the Sham region of the West Indus Valley. Visit Phyang Monastery, Magnetic Hill, and the Sangam (confluence of Indus & Zanskar Rivers). Explore Basgo Monastery, marvel at Alchi’s ancient frescoes, and continue to Lamayuru village surrounded by “moonland” landscapes.

    Day 3: Lamayuru – Rizong – Likir – Gurdwara Pathar Sahib – Spituk – Leh

    Night in Leh Attend morning prayers at Lamayuru Monastery. On the return to Leh, visit Rizong Monastery, Likir Monastery with its towering Maitreya Buddha, and Gurdwara Pathar Sahib. Explore Spituk Monastery and optionally visit the Hall of Fame museum before reaching Leh.

    Day 4: Leh – Khardung La – Diskit – Hunder (Nubra Valley)

    Night in Hunder Drive over Khardung La Pass (5,602 m) into Nubra Valley. Visit Diskit Monastery and its majestic Maitreya statue. Continue to Hunder village for a camel ride on Bactrian camels across the sand dunes.

    Day 5: Hunder – Sumur – Shayok – Tangtse – Pangong Lake

    Night at Pangong Lake After a camel ride in Hunder, visit Samstanling Monastery in Sumur. Travel via scenic Shayok Valley to reach the turquoise Pangong Lake (4,250 m). Enjoy the tranquil beauty and watch for migratory birds.

    Day 6: Pangong Lake – Chang La – Chemrey – Hemis – Thiksey – Shey – Leh

    Night in Leh Walk along Pangong’s serene shores. Return to Leh via Chang La Pass (5,360 m). Visit Chemrey, Hemis Monastery (Ladakh’s largest), Thiksey Monastery with its Maitreya statue, and Shey Palace before arriving back in Leh.

    Day 7: Departure from Leh Airport

Read this to prepare for your tour in the best way!

    1. Inner line permit for all the mentioned places in the itinerary.
    2. Airport pickup and drop
    3. Vehicle will be Toyota Innova or Manindra Xylo, if the group exceeds more then 6 Pax, then we will provide Force Traveller.
    4. Accommodation will be on Triple/double sharing basis in the mentioned hotel or similar.

    2. The company reserves the right to reschedule sightseeing days to ensure the smooth execution of tours. All guests must carry a valid Indian government-issued photo address proof, including for children.
    3. Please provide your pick-up and drop-off times.
    4. For those booking only the cab service, please book or look for hotels within a 9 to 10 km radius of the main city to avoid extra travel charges. Cab operator service hours for local sightseeing are from 09:00 AM to 07:00 PM. For safety reasons, please avoid late-night walks. If the vehicle is used late at night, additional compensation for the driver will be required. Please consider all sightseeing activities as per the time and travel schedule. There are no timing restrictions on arrival and departure days.
    5. Please respond by return mail so we can proceed with the advance booking formalities. Upon reflecting the amount in our account, we will send you a reservation voucher.
    6. Help us keep our surroundings clean by avoiding littering, spitting, drinking, and smoking in public places and in all aspects (advisory only).
    7. AC is complimentary in flat areas, but in hill stations, AC will not be used (mostly for North India and North East regions). All vehicles hired are on a point-to-point basis and not on disposal. If AC services are required in hill areas, it will be on a direct payment basis.
    8. Sightseeing days may need to be rescheduled due to the closing of any monument on a particular day to ensure the smooth execution of tours.
    9. Check-in and check-out times are as per hotel policies.
    10. Meal timings must be followed as instructed by the hotels. We shall not be responsible for any un-availed meals.
    11. In case of non-payment, either advance or remaining, the company has the right to stop services.
    12. We shall not be responsible for any cancellation of cabs or buses due to bad weather and are not liable for it.
    13. In Himachal, Leh Ladakh, Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and North East, the facilities of hotels, services, aids, etc., cannot be matched to developed destinations. Hotels in these regions are categorized based on location, services, and cost, and not as per star categorization (1*, 2*, 3*, 4*, 5*, etc.).

    2. Travel Documents: It is the responsibility of the traveler to ensure that all necessary travel documents, including passport, visa, and travel insurance, are in order.

    4. The company shall not be responsible for any delays or cancellations due to heavy traffic jams, blocked roads, technical faults, strikes, natural disasters, or any unforeseen events. Such situations may also require extra services at additional costs.
    5. Reservation Policy for Package Booking
    6. To secure your package booking, an initial payment of 50% is required at the time of reservation.
    7. The remaining 50% of the package cost will be collected either upon arrival on the first day of the tour or 1-7 days prior to the trip.

    9. For flight, train, or bus bookings, a 100% payment is required to confirm the reservation.

    15. Fixed Departure Dates: The tour will depart on the fixed dates mentioned in the itinerary. No changes or amendments will be allowed.
    16. Company's Rights: The company reserves the right to cancel or modify the tour itinerary due to unforeseen circumstances, including natural calamities, political unrest, or other factors beyond our control.

    2. -If cancelled 30 days or more prior to departure: 20% of the total tour cost will be deducted.
    3. -If cancelled between 15-29 days prior to departure: 50% of the total tour cost will be deducted.
    4. -If cancelled between 0-14 days prior to departure: 100% of the total tour cost will be deducted.

  2. The airport is located just 4 km from Leh town. Our representative will receive you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel.

By Road (For adventure seekers)

Reaching Ladakh by road offers some of the most scenic road trips in the world.

  1. Via Manali-Leh Highway (473 km)
  2. Best time: Mid-June to September
  3. Route: Manali – Rohtang Pass – Keylong – Sarchu – Pang – Tanglang La – Leh
  4. Duration: 2 days with overnight halt (usually in Jispa or Sarchu)
  5. Via Srinagar-Leh Highway (434 km)
  6. Best time: May to October
  7. Route: Srinagar – Sonmarg – Drass – Kargil – Lamayuru – Leh
